Position Overview Location: Pearl City, Department of Health. Salary: $6,043 to $7,351 per month (SR-24, Step D to I). Duties Summary The primary purpose of this position is to independently perform difficult and complex geologic studies, reviews, and investigations at hazardous waste, solid waste, and leaking underground storage tank sites and evaluate the environmental and health issues of those releases. Additionally, the position is responsible for providing technical assistance on geological and hydrological issues as they pertain to corrective actions at various types of sites. The position also provides technical support for the U.S. Navy Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Tanks Special Project. Minimum Qualification Requirements Legal Authorization to Work: All applicants must be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States. Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree and major in geology, hydrology, or a related field of geoscience. Professional Experience: Three (3) years of progressively responsible professional geological or hydrological work experience, including mapping, field observations, sample collection, laboratory analyses, and preparation of scientific and economic reports. Para-Professional Experience: Field or laboratory work of a technical geology nature that has provided a thorough working knowledge of geological or hydrological principles and practices. Driver's License: Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license at the time of appointment.
