Lower School 3rd Grade Long-Term Substitute Teacher

St. Andrew's Episcopal School seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic educator to serve as a Third Grade Teacher Long-Term Substitute from August 2026 through December 2026. The position includes a short overlap period with the returning teacher to support a smooth transition and the completion of mid-year student reports. Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging instruction Teach lessons across core subjects, including Math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies Use differentiated instruction to meet the diverse learning styles, abilities, and needs of students Foster student engagement, curiosity, and a love of learning through dynamic teaching practices Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment Establish a respectful, supportive classroom culture that promotes self-confidence and inclusion Utilize the Responsive Classroom approach to build a strong sense of community and belonging Assess and support student growth Regularly evaluate student progress using a variety of assessment methods Provide timely, constructive feedback to support academic and personal development Adjust instruction based on assessment data to ensure student success Collaborate with colleagues Work closely with the grade-level teaching team to ensure consistency and cohesion in instruction Participate in collaborative planning and professional discussions Contribute to a team-oriented, supportive faculty environment Participate in the life of the school Supervise students during lunch and recess, and perform afternoon carpool duties Attend weekly faculty meetings and be present for professional development days Partner with families Communicate regularly with families about student progress and classroom experiences Foster positive relationships with families to support student learning and well‑being Qualifications A bachelor's or master’s degree in elementary education or a related field Prior teaching experience is required A teaching certificate is preferred Understanding of the developmental needs of elementary-aged children Finalists will be confident and experienced in designing and implementing curricula, adept with transformative technology integration skills and strategies, and have experience with social‑emotional learning skills, strategies, and philosophies St. Andrew's is committed to providing equal opportunity in all personnel actions and in the administration of all policies and programs.
