**Position Overview

**

We are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor – Plastic Injection Molding to lead second-shift manufacturing operations in a fast-paced automotive production environment.

This is a hands-on leadership role combining production supervision with injection molding process knowledge. The Production Supervisor will be responsible for directing shift employees, maintaining production schedules, troubleshooting molding and equipment issues, ensuring process parameters are followed, and maintaining compliance with safety and quality requirements.

The ideal candidate will have previous supervisory experience specifically within plastic injection molding and enough technical processing knowledge to recognize and troubleshoot molding issues, support mold/tool changes when necessary, and ensure established processes are maintained.

This position requires a leader who is comfortable spending significant time on the production floor, developing employees, solving problems, and maintaining accountability for the overall performance of the shift.

**Key Responsibilities:

**

**Production & Shift Leadership

**

• Provide day-to-day leadership and direction for second-shift production employees.

• Manage production activities to meet customer requirements, schedules, quality standards, and productivity expectations.

• Assign employees and resources based on production requirements.

• Monitor production throughout the shift and respond quickly to issues affecting output or quality.

• Coordinate with management, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and other departments regarding production requirements and manufacturing concerns.

• Maintain a visible, hands-on presence throughout the production floor.

• Ensure employees understand job expectations, production priorities, and safety requirements.

• Maintain positive employee relations while holding team members accountable for performance.

• Complete employee performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.

• Review and approve PTO requests based on staffing and production requirements.

• Maintain accurate documentation regarding shift activities and performance.

**Injection Molding Process Support

**

• Monitor plastic injection molding processes to ensure established process parameters are maintained.

• Verify processes against approved master setup documentation and process sheets.

• Complete required process-verification documentation.

• Respond to process deviations and take appropriate corrective action.

• Document process adjustments in accordance with established procedures.

• Troubleshoot injection molding process issues and determine appropriate next steps.

• Obtain appropriate authorization when process changes are necessary.

• Support troubleshooting of injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment.

• Assist with mold/tool setup and changes when required.

• Identify tooling issues and coordinate appropriate repairs or escalation.

• Ensure departmental procedures are followed during job setup, startup, production, and shutdown.

**Quality & IATF Compliance

**

• Ensure production activities are performed in accordance with established quality procedures and IATF requirements.

• Monitor production processes to ensure parts consistently meet customer specifications.

• Respond appropriately to process deviations and quality concerns.

• Ensure process changes are properly documented and controlled.

• Partner with Quality personnel to identify and resolve production issues.

• Support root-cause analysis and corrective-action activities.

• Promote a first-time-quality mindset throughout the shift.

• Ensure employees understand the quality requirements associated with their assigned operations.

**Required Qualifications

**

• High school diploma or GED required.

• **Previous supervisory experience within a plastic injection molding environment is required.

**

• Prior experience leading production employees in a manufacturing environment.

• Strong working knowledge of plastic injection molding processes.

• Ability to troubleshoot common injection molding process issues.

• Experience working with injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment.

• Ability to understand and maintain established process parameters.

• Experience completing production and process documentation.

• Ability to read and understand work instructions, process sheets, procedures, and production documentation.

• Strong leadership and employee-relations skills.

• Ability to coach employees and conduct performance reviews.

• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

• Basic computer proficiency.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to perform basic manufacturing calculations involving rates, ratios, percentages, fractions, and decimals.

• Strong understanding of manufacturing safety practices.

**Preferred Qualifications

**

• RJG training or certification.

• Demonstrated experience using the RJG eDART system.

• Master Molder certification or formal Master Molder training.

• Automotive plastic injection molding experience.

• Experience working within an IATF 16949 manufacturing environment.

• Injection molding Process Technician experience prior to moving into supervision.

• Experience performing or supporting mold changes and machine setups.

• Experience with Lean Manufacturing or continuous-improvement methodologies.

• Experience supervising an off-shift manufacturing operation.
