Design Specialist - Electric Distribution (Houston)

We’re growing our Electric Projects & Programs team and are looking for a Design Specialist to support our work with CenterPoint Energy in the Houston area.If you enjoy problem solving, working with a collaborative team, and seeing your designs come to life in the field, this is a great opportunity to build your career in electric distribution.What You’ll DoAs a Design Specialist, you’ll play a hands-on role in supporting electric distribution design projects from early planning through construction. You’ll work closely with engineers, project teams, and our utility client to help deliver safe and reliable solutions.In this role, you will:Support overhead and underground electric distribution design projects for CenterPointUse design tools and software to develop layouts, drawings, and construction-ready packagesAssist with creating and maintaining plans, specifications, reports, diagrams, and engineering documentationCoordinate and manage permit submittals, ensuring compliance with local requirementsCollaborate with internal teams, field personnel, and client representatives to ensure project successHelp manage workload, timelines, and project deliverables across multiple assignmentsConduct field visits, site investigations, and data collection to support design accuracy (up to ~20% travel)Support construction coordination, including verification and issue resolution in the fieldWhat We’re Looking ForExperience supporting electric distribution design, drafting, or CAD-based design workProficiency with AutoCAD, O-Calc, and/or SPIDACalc (or similar design tools)Experience working with GIS or mapping systemsAbility and willingness to travel up to 20% for fieldwork and client coordinationPreferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology, drafting/design, or a related fieldAdditional certifications or technical training related to utility or infrastructure designExperience working with electric utilities or supporting client-driven projectsDistribution Design Studio (DDS)Why Join Us?At ENTRUST Solutions Group, a Leidos company, we are driven by a commitment to innovation, technical excellence, and delivering the critical infrastructure that powers and connects communities.
