Job Title : Material Handler
Location: Clayton, NC 27520
Pay rate : $18.00 - $19.00/hr
Work schedule : Full-Time | 6:00 AM - 2:45 PM, Monday through Friday.

• Overtime Requirements: Occasional Saturdays are required from 6:00 AM - 4:45 PM. Must maintain the flexibility to work up to 10 hours per day and weekends as dictated by production and inventory demands.

Overview

The Material Handler moves raw materials, components, and machinery throughout the facility to actively support production schedules and inventory control goals. This role ensures all incoming stock or project-specific equipment is safely stored, accurately identified, and properly staged. Additionally, the Material Handler prepares production kits, performs physical inventory counts, and maintains a clean, organized, and compliant warehouse environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Material Logistics & Equipment Operation : Safely operate industrial material handling equipment-including stand-up forklifts, sit-down forklifts, reach trucks, and both electric and manual pallet jacks-to transfer stock within the warehouse, stockroom, or storage yard.
• Kitting & Production Staging : Prepare, kit, assemble, cut, and stage designated materials from inventory to ensure production lines are supplied efficiently and without delay.
• Inventory Control & Data Entry : Receive, unpack, sort, and count stock items. Accurately record material data manually or via internal computer systems, and consistently report inventory usage as required.
• Quality Inspections & Tagging : Inspect incoming and stored stock items for visible wear, defects, or logistical damage, reporting any discrepancies or issues immediately to supervisors. Mark stock components clearly using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or specialized labeling equipment.
• Warehouse Optimization : Pack, stack, and store items in an orderly, highly accessible, and secure manner. Conduct routine inventory counts, isolate tracking discrepancies, and verify that all tools and equipment are kept in proper working condition.
• Compliance & Collaboration : Read and thoroughly comprehend posted facility bulletins, safety regulations, rule books, manufacturer manuals, and technical work instructions. Cooperate closely with team members, offer help when needed, maintain positive work relationships, and accurately complete daily Time Reporting Sheets.
• Quality Standards : Strictly adhere to the established corporate Quality Management System (QMS) and ISO 9001 standards while meeting all daily facility performance objectives.

Must Have Skills / Requirements

• Industrial Forklift Certification : Direct, hands-on experience operating stand-up forklifts, sit-down forklifts, and reach trucks is required.
• Pallet Jack Proficiency : Proven experience handling both manual and electric pallet jacks safely.
• Technical Literacy : Ability to comfortably read technical instructions and utilize computers for digital data entry and inventory tracking.
• Credentials : Must hold and maintain a valid Driver's License.

Physical Demands & Safety Constraints

• Consistent Heavy Lifting : Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs. consistently throughout the shift.
• PPE Adherence : Absolute commitment to following safety guidelines, including wearing all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times and ensuring a clean work environment.

Education & Experience

• Experience : Previous material handling, order picking, or industrial warehouse experience involving multi-forklift operation is required.
• Education : High School Diploma or equivalent.

Term : Contract Assignment (Successful completion of a mandatory background check and drug screen is required prior to onboarding).
