This full time specialized Registered Nurse position is to function as the medical expert for protective investigations, protective supervision and protective intervention programs, both as a team member and independently. The person assigned to this position must be a legally and professionally qualified Registered Nurse with appropriate experience, education, and license and demonstrate ability in nursing practice and administration. Work is performed under the supervision of the Program Administrator.

Review and interpret medical records to assist protective investigation and supervision staff with medical decisions relating to investigations of adult abuse, neglect, and exploitation and provision of services to vulnerable adult victims. Assist adult protective investigation and adult protective supervision staff by providing professional nursing diagnosis for vulnerable adults who are victims of abuse, neglect, and exploitation. This includes providing expert opinions regarding the presence and causes of abuse or neglect, and exploitation and make recommendations for the prevention of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of vulnerable adults. Provide written reports of nursing opinions and medical documentation in accordance with current operating procedures and policies concerning alleged abuse, neglect, and exploitation reports received through the hotline.

Serve as the district adult death review coordinator to ensure compliance with program standards and procedures. Make recommendations for intervention through immediate and ongoing protection of victims of adult abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Coordinate the multidisciplinary Adult Protection Team in the protection, prevention, and implementation of treatment for vulnerable adults who are victims of abuse, neglect and exploitation. Conduct or arrange preservice and inservice training of Adult Protective Services staff on medical aspects of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of vulnerable adults. Provide professional, medical training to the public and private sector regarding the medical aspects of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of vulnerable adults. Perform travel as necessary in relation to the above duties. Employee must hold a valid, unrestricted Florida drivers license, have the use of a private automobile, and maintain current vehicle insurance.
