McWane Ductile New Jersey is an industry leader in manufacturing water distribution and infrastructure products. As our country expanded, so did the need to supply growing cities with clean water and safely remove wastewater. Our location history starts in 1865 when Warren Foundry and Machine Company casted stoves, steam engines, mill gearing and other foundry related items. Currently we specialize in the casting of iron ductile pipes that range from 3" to 24" in diameter.

Work Environment:   A Facilities Grounds Person should anticipate and will be expected to work both indoors as well as outdoors experiencing high noise and heat of our industrial site and the full gamut of seasonal weather throughout the calendar year.  The Grounds person can and should expect and be prepared to work in very hot or cold temperatures with no aversion or impediment either.

Job Description

Pay Rate Between $25.30 and $28.30

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following,

• Sweeping and removing debris / garbage
• Monitoring and maintaining plant health
• Trimming hedges, shrubs, and small trees
• Inspecting grounds for safety hazards and performing necessary repairs
• Operating and maintaining groundskeeping equipment.
• Operating and maintaining powered sweeping equipment and vehicles
• When directed or assigned, they assist production department managers and superintendents in executing their areas housekeeping efforts
• Maintain exterior sidewalks and internal plant safety walks to foster and ensure safe passage
• Setting up, preparing, and clearing sites and plant facilities for events and functions
• Perform snow removal and de-icing activities
• Operate and maintain various snow removal equipment and vehicles
• MUST possess general knowledge of and have hands-on experience with lite maintenance capabilities such as mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical skills trades – Handy Man  
• MUST be able to operate a high-lift, scissor lift and materials handling equipment, i.e., forklift.
• Perform all other general tasks as assigned or directed by facilities management / supervision
• Observe health, safety, and compliance regulations during work operations
• Be able to safely lift 50 lbs.
• Physical fitness and ability to perform strenuous tasks in various weather conditions
• Physical strength and stamina to handle heavy equipment
• Reports to the Plant Services General Maintenance Supervisor or Facilities Maintenance Manager.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Occasionally requires carrying objects that are up to 50lbs by hand. Occasionally requires carrying objects that are up to 50lbs or more using equipment.  This role requires individuals to work in a manufacturing environment, often involving heavy machinery, high noise levels, and exposure to airborne particles, with PPE provided for safety. Candidates must be physically capable of performing manual labor for extended periods.
