Summary of Physical Therapist Job Description The Physical Therapy Assistant will be responsible for providing outpatient physical therapy services for Odom Rehab in an ethical and professional manner. Services will be provided in accordance with each state’s guidelines. The employee shall also perform (i) duties customarily performed by an employee in a similar position and (ii) other unrelated services and duties that may be assigned by Odom Rehab from time to time. Essential Functions The essential functions are a general description of responsibilities, duties, and tasks that are expected of this position. This is not an all‑encompassing list; additional duties may be assigned as business or client needs dictate. Provide Physical Therapy Services Treat patients in accordance with state guidelines, focusing on root causes of dysfunction that directly translate to impairments in daily function. Follow appropriate Plans of Care, providing input related to progress to keep goals relevant. Deliver treatment including manual therapy, educating and performing therapeutic exercises, training proper techniques for movements and body mechanics, developing balance systems, and addressing pain to reach goals. Educate patients on best ways to self‑manage conditions and educate family on best ways to help the patient. Assess appropriate adaptive equipment, including canes, walkers, orthotics, etc. Develop a discharge plan for patients once completing physical therapy. Document patients’ treatment daily based on established and accepted practice guidelines. Submit appropriate charges daily for Physical Therapy services provided that date. Communicate regularly with the physician and medical staff regarding patients’ status or change in status. Assist in developing and updating Odom Rehab treatment protocols as needed. Actively participate in Odom Rehab staff meetings. Track and complete Continuing Education Credits and renewal steps necessary to keep current on Physical Therapy licensure. Certification Requirements Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program. One (1) year of experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant (preferred). Recent or previous work experience in a primary health care setting (preferred). Additional Qualifications Ability to follow written and oral directions. Computer skills required. Demonstrates a high level of personal and professional accountability and responsibility. Self‑directed and performs duties independently. Ability to problem‑solve and apply critical thinking skills. Must have the proven ability to maintain confidentiality. Must maintain personal vehicle auto insurance coverage (for mandatory administrative drivers). Working Environment and Physical Requirements Medium work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. The role also involves sedentary and light work. Driving Requirements This position is designated as Mandatory Driving: Administrative. As part of the new hire onboarding process, OHW conducts background checks including a review of driving records for all employees required to drive. Maintaining a satisfactory driving record is essential; violations may result in discipline up to and including termination of employment.
