WHO WE ARE Disability Rights California (DRC) works in partnership with disabled people to defend rights, advance opportunities, grow power, and expand public support for disability justice in California and beyond. DRC envisions a world where all people have power and are treated with dignity and respect. In this world, disability is recognized as a natural part of human experience. People with disabilities are supported, valued, and afforded the same opportunities as people without disabilities. They are encouraged to take leadership in their communities and make their own decisions. Our vision is grounded in disability justice, where equity, self-determination, and collective liberation help to build a world in which all disabled people can thrive.
DRC values all forms of human diversity. We are committed to a culture of belonging where all people are welcome. In order to be effective advocates for all people with disabilities, we must address discrimination in all its forms, including the unique challenges faced by people who experience the intersection of multiple systems of discrimination. We fight for the rights of people with all types of disabilities, of any age or background, to be fully integrated into the life of our communities, with equality of opportunity, freedom from discrimination, and access to the services and supports they need to pursue their aspirations.
