You will be working on the shop floor along side Manufacturing and Quality teams to develop engineering dispositions related to non-conformances. You will work hard, have fun, and make history!This Thermal Liaison Engineer must have Material Review Board (MRB) experience in aerospace programs, and must be able to understand the balance between engineering judgment versus analysis rigor and when each is appropriate.Key job responsibilitiesReview and disposition non-conformance events of the spacecraft and its ground support equipment that may occur in all phases of the Amazon Leo operations: procurement, storage, handling, manufacturing, assembly, and testing• Develop standard repairs, rework procedures, propose design for manufacturing (DFM) improvements, improved processes and work instructions• Conduct root cause investigations and develop corrective actions• Document thermal telemetries, and thermal analyses when needed to support dispositions, interpreting established report.• Develop analysis methods to address common non-conformances• Work with Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering experts to provide root cause failure analyses• Interact with internal customers, external customers, and suppliers• Interpret test plans and create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for test operatorsA day in the lifeThis Thermal Liaison Engineer will be providing engineering support to resolve engineering issues that arise during manufacturing and assembly processes, quality inspection and acceptance tests, through the application of engineering and design principles, consulting the engineering development teams as neededAbout the teamThe Thermal Engineering is part of the Amazon Leo Vehicle Engineering (Structural Analysis, Loads and Dynamics, Materials and Processes, Thermal and Reliability) that is ultimately responsible for Integrity of not only the spacecraft but all other commodities supporting the program, inside and outside of the Vehicle Engineering group.Basic qualifications- 4+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience- Experience with prototyping and implementation- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent- Knowledge of Power Systems, Fluid Dynamics, or Thermodynamics- 3+ years of demonstrated experience in a Liaison Engineer / Material Review Board (MRB) role with aircraft, spacecraft, or- launch vehicle structures- Integration and Testing experience- Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution System (MES)Preferred qualification - Knowledge of SolidWorks simulation or Ansys Finite Element analysis tools- Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or an equivalent field- Knowledge of Siemens NX, or SolidWorks- Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume- Experience with the project management of technical projects- Experience with formal root cause and correct action investigations- Experience with Six Sigma’s DMAIC process for Statistical Analysis- Strong understanding or Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing- Strong understanding of ANSI Y14.5M-1994 (drawing interpretation)Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
