Full-Time Medical Assistant – Dermatology Practice

Port Jefferson Dermatology, with locations in Port Jefferson Station and Patchogue, is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and detail-oriented Full-Time Medical Assistant to join our busy dermatology practice. The ideal candidate is committed to providing excellent patient care, thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment, and enjoys working collaboratively with physicians and staff to deliver exceptional patient experiences.

Responsibilities

Provide outstanding patient care while ensuring a positive patient experience.

Assist physicians during patient examinations and office visits.

Assist physicians with minor surgical and dermatologic procedures.

Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and supplies for procedures.

Sterilize and maintain surgical instruments in accordance with infection control guidelines.

Verify patient demographics, medical history, medications, and insurance information.

Document patient information accurately using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.

Prepare, label, and process specimens for laboratory testing.

Communicate with pharmacies regarding prescriptions and medication requests.

Process prior authorizations for medications and treatments.

Return patient phone calls and respond to patient inquiries in a timely and professional manner.

Answer incoming telephone calls and assist with scheduling and patient communication.

Perform administrative duties, including recordkeeping, data entry, and maintaining accurate medical records.

Support providers and clinical staff with daily workflow and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Medical Assistant certification preferred (or equivalent experience).

Previous dermatology experience preferred but not required.

Knowledge of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Professional, compassionate, and patient-focused attitude.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
