Heritage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center is seeking an experienced Director of Maintenance & Housekeeping to lead our Maintenance and Housekeeping departments.
We are looking for a strong, hands-on leader who takes pride in maintaining a clean, safe, well-maintained, and survey-ready facility . The ideal candidate has experience in a skilled nursing or healthcare environment and understands the importance of both regulatory compliance and day-to-day building operations.
Responsibilities
Oversee all Maintenance and Housekeeping operations
Lead, schedule, and supervise maintenance and housekeeping staff
Ensure the facility remains clean, safe, and survey-ready at all times
Manage preventive maintenance programs, repairs, inspections, and work orders
Conduct routine building inspections and address issues promptly
Maintain required maintenance and Life Safety documentation
Ensure compliance with NYSDOH, CMS, Life Safety, OSHA, and fire safety requirements
Oversee outside vendors, contractors, and facility projects
Manage departmental supplies and inventory
Work closely with the Administrator and leadership team on facility needs
Respond to urgent maintenance and building issues as needed
Qualifications
Previous Maintenance Director, Director of Environmental Services, or similar leadership experience
Skilled nursing/long-term care experience strongly preferred
Knowledge of Life Safety, DOH surveys, preventive maintenance, and healthcare facility requirements
Strong leadership and organizational skills
Hands-on and proactive approach to facility operations
Ability to manage both Maintenance and Housekeeping teams effectively
