Registered Nurse (RN) - Neuro Trauma Intermediate PCU

We are seeking a qualified Registered Nurse to join the Neuro Trauma Intermediate PCU team. This position requires a dedicated professional who is passionate about providing high-quality patient care and is equipped to handle the nuances of neuro and trauma cases.

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to provide comprehensive patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Monitor and coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient comfort and care effectiveness.
• Maintain professional accountability for the provision of patient care and evaluate the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers.
• Ensure adherence to patient rights and confidentiality throughout all interactions.
• Conduct direct patient care activities for all age groups, focusing on those with trauma, surgical interventions, and medical comorbidities.

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 26
• Patient Ratios: 3:1 or 4:1
• Common Equipment: Philips monitors, chest tubes, art lines, wound vacs, drains, EVDs, Nicom, BIPAP, and Airvo.
• EMR System: EPIC

Qualifications

• Current RN License valid in the state of Missouri.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from AHA required.
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
• Ability to float on a rotational basis to critical care cluster or med/surg as required.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with patients dealing with neuro trauma, alcohol withdrawal, respiratory distress, and insulin drips.
• A team player who demonstrates effective collaboration within a healthcare setting.

Dress Code

Scrubs must be black. Mercy-logo attire is also acceptable.

Working Conditions

This role involves standing and walking for most of the shift, with significant bending, stooping, and lifting. The nurse must be prepared to work varied schedules based on patient care requirements, with potential exposure to blood and body fluids.
