• Have completed a bachelor's degree
• Be admitted for candidacy as a full-time student in a master's level graduate program at the University of Kentucky
• Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0

Physical Requirements - This position requires sitting for extended periods of time. In addition, some lifting, pushing, or pulling items up to 50lbs may be required on occasion.

Shift - 20 hrs/wk scheduled M-F between the hours of 8am and 5pm

Job Summary - The Office of Residence Life at the University of Kentucky seeks a graduate assistant to support residential student success initiatives and in-hall operations within undergraduate residential communities. This position plays a critical role in advancing the Wildcat Way residential curriculum by fostering environments that promote student belonging, academic success, well-being, engagement, and personal growth. The Residential Student Success Coordinator Graduate Assistant will support student success initiatives through engagement in CATSUP conversations, Academic Alert follow-up, and retention and persistence efforts. This includes assisting with proactive outreach strategies designed to connect students with resources and support their ongoing success throughout the residential experience.

In addition to student success initiatives, this position will collaborate closely with Resident Directors and hall staff to support the day-to-day operations of residential communities. Responsibilities may include:

• Supporting student outreach and follow-up related to academic and personal success
• Assisting with administrative and operational processes within residence halls
• Coordinating or contributing to student success initiatives and educational efforts
• Supporting implementation of residential curriculum elements within communities
• Contributing to a positive, inclusive, and engaging residential environment

This role provides graduate students with practical experience in residential education, student success strategy, community operations, and student development within a large, comprehensive university housing program.

Terms of Appointment & Service

This employment agreement is for a single academic year and will remain in effect from the date signed until the residence halls close at the end of the academic year when it is signed. The Desk Operations/Conduct Coordinator will have to reapply in order to be reappointed for the following year. Reappointment to the Desk Operations/Conduct Coordinator position is not guaranteed and will be based on job availability, attitude, and job performance. Before the current agreement ends, the supervisor will notify the DOC whether their appointment as the DOC will be renewed for a subsequent academic year.

Serve in the position for the length of my employment agreement, which begins no earlier than the start of Senior Staff Training in July and concludes after halls are closed and administrative responsibilities are completed in May. Be a full-time student and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 throughout the course of my employment. Not seek or accept outside employment while employed as a Senior Staff member. Have approval from my supervisor before committing to internships or other time-intensive academic program requirements. Receive written approval from my supervisor before registering for more than 9 credit hours in a semester or dropping to less than 6 hours. Be available until the halls are officially closed for each vacation period and return prior to opening after vacations period to assist with any desk clerk scheduling needs. Accept additional duties as assigned by my supervisor or other Central Office Team members.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities - Student Success & Residential Education– Understanding of student development, academic success strategies, and inclusive practices that support belonging, engagement, and persistence; familiarity with or ability to learn residential curriculum models and student outreach frameworks. Communication & Interpersonal Skills– Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build rapport, engage students in meaningful conversations, and collaborate effectively with professional and student staff. Organization & Administrative Skills– Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, track outreach and follow-up efforts, and support administrative processes with attention to detail and accuracy. Professional Judgment & Initiative– Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, take initiative on projects, and respond to student needs with empathy and appropriate resource referral. Adaptability & Collaboration– Ability to work in a dynamic residential environment, balance student success initiatives with operational needs, and contribute positively to team-based goals.
