Engineer I - Design

We are seeking a talented and passionate Design Engineer to join our growing team at Southco, a leading designer and manufacturer of innovative hardware products. In this role, you will play a key role in the entire product development lifecycle, from concept creation to manufacturing, contributing to the success of our next generation of hardware solutions. What you will be doing Collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, product management, and manufacturing to translate market needs and customer requirements into innovative and manufacturable product designs. Utilize your creativity and engineering expertise to develop detailed product designs, including mechanical drawings, schematics, and 3D models using CAD software. Conduct thorough design reviews, perform simulations, and analyze potential issues to ensure product functionality, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness. Participate in the prototyping process, testing prototypes, and refining designs based on test results. Work closely with manufacturing partners to ensure smooth production ramp-up and address any production challenges. Stay current with the latest design trends, technologies, and materials relevant to the hardware industry. Help maintain the company's reputation for high-quality, reliable, and user-friendly hardware products. About you Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field. Minimum 2-5 years of experience in product design engineering, preferably in the hardware industry. Proficient in using CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, etc.) and other relevant design tools. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think creatively and find innovative solutions. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to work effectively across diverse teams. A passion for hardware and a strong desire to contribute to the development of cutting-edge products.
