Position Overview: 

The Internal Communications Specialist will partner directly with our Internal Communications Manager and focus on the day-to-day writing, formatting, and publishing of internal content. In this role, you will help us bridge the gap between our team and the updates they need, ensuring we communicate in a clear, real, and human way. You will also support the internal communications intake process, produce company newsletters, post company updates in Slack, and support the ongoing management of our company intranet with Simpplr, our intranet solution provider.

Key Responsibilities:

• Draft and distribute newsletters and company announcements, sourcing updates from various departments to highlight key initiatives, success stories, and company news.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with various departments and stakeholders across the business (e.g., HR, IT, Product, Operations, etc.) to gather information, understand their communication needs, and translate them into company-wide messages.
• Support the implementation of the intranet by building, formatting, and organizing content pages to ensure the platform serves as an easy-to-navigate, central hub of information.
• Format and publish Slack announcements, utilizing established channel guidelines, clean layouts, and visual formatting to maximize readability and employee engagement.
• Support the internal communications intake process, partnering with the Project Coordinator to collect details for announcement requests and translate them into clear, reader-friendly drafts.
• Maintain and update the central content calendar, collaborating with the Internal Communications Manager and Project Coordinator to ensure a consistent, structured flow of communication across all channels.
• Track and report on communication metrics, regularly gathering data on newsletter open rates, Simpplr page views, and Slack engagement to help the team analyze what content is performing best.
• Support the Internal Communications Manager with drafting time-sensitive updates, organizing internal resources, and executing ad-hoc projects as the communications function scales.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Writing, Marketing, or a related field.
• 3 - 5 years of experience in internal communications, employee engagement, corporate communications, or a hands-on, writing-heavy role.
• Exceptional written communication skills, with a sharp eye for tone, clarity, layout, and copyediting.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with a proven ability to work effectively with diverse teams, stakeholders, and departments across the organization.
• Comfortable with basic data and analytics, with the ability to pull reports and interpret engagement metrics (such as click-through rates, read times, and page views) to help inform future content decisions.
• Strong Slack skills, with proven experience formatting and publishing clean, structured communication streams within the platform.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace (Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive) for daily collaboration and document creation.
• Experience with project management tools, specifically Asana (or a strong comfort level learning it quickly) to track deliverables and stay aligned on timelines.
• Familiarity with basic design tools like Canva to format newsletters and design visually polished header images and assets.
• Familiarity with intranet platforms, knowledge management systems, or employee communication tools (direct experience with Simpplr is a strong plus).

• Adaptable and grounded, with the ability to remain focused and calm when priorities or timelines shift quickly.

Work Environment:

This position is primarily based in a remote work environment. The role requires regular periods of sitting, standing, and computer use, with occasional lifting as needed. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

Annual Salary

$75,000—$85,000 USD
