The location of the work station is subject to contract language concerning shift location/bids. Maintenance employees work a 4/10 schedule with weekends and holidays off. This position has a retirement association with the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS). Job Requirements A high school diploma or equivalent, or current enrollment in a GED program. Minimum of four years of experience within the past six years in tool and parts operation. Work experience must evidence ability to perform tasks assigned. Essential Job Functions Knowledge of heating, ventilation, plumbing, lock, carpentry, electrical and electronic parts and equipment. Operates a forklift. Purchases materials and equipment. Performs standard tool and parts room operations to include stocking, ordering, categorizing, inventorying, and issuing tools, parts and equipment. Maintains knowledge of public purchasing procedures such as competitive bidding. Researches local sources for acquiring needed material and equipment, especially complex electrical and electronic assemblies. Learns computer information systems, inputs data and accesses information, and write reports. Follows specific procedures in the documentation of supply support activities. Routinely works at heights over 20 feet. Contacts local vendors to obtain price quotations, availability and quality of various materials. Contacts suppliers to expedite deliveries. Picks up and delivers supply items. Controls shelf stocked items and maintains accurate computer stock records. Determines most economical quantities of materials to purchase. Disposes of obsolete items to maintain active shelf stocks. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with others. Works cooperatively with others and within established maintenance and safety procedures. Physical /Mental Demands The physical demands of this job require frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking and hearing. Specific visual abilities are also required. The employee is regularly required to reach with his/her hands and arms and occasionally lift items weighing less than 40 lbs. Additionally, the employee must be able to understand vague and implicit instructions, be able to readily recall facts and details, handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure. The employee must have the ability to effectively manage the stress of working with students, parents, and other employees representing diverse cultures, personalities, and work styles in a dynamic work environment.
