Mechanical NX Designer

Job Title: Mechanical NX Designer
Location: West Chicago
Job Type and Duration: 1 year + contract position
Pay range: 35 - 48
Mechanical Designer (Onsite)

The Designer will work onsite under limited supervision to develop mechanical designs and drawings using Siemens NX and Teamcenter, while correctly applying the ASME Y14.5 GD&T standard (1994 revision or later).

This role supports projects within APS-TD, including:

• PIP-II
• LCLS-II
• LCLS-II HE
• Accelerator Support
• LHC AUP
• SRF
• SC Magnets

The Designer will follow established design and drafting procedures to meet project schedules and technical requirements. Responsibilities include collaborating directly with engineering staff to research and analyze design solutions, coordinate design development activities, and specify/select appropriate components and materials.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare advanced 3D mechanical models and detailed 2D manufacturing drawings
• Perform tolerance analysis and stack-up calculations
• Develop layout and assembly designs
• Apply GD&T standards accurately to all designs
• Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure design intent and manufacturability
• Support project timelines and documentation requirements

Deliverables

• Tolerance and stack-up calculations
• Layout and detail designs
• Advanced-level 3D models
• Complete 2D fabrication/manufacturing drawings

Deliverable Format

All deliverables shall be completed in NX1980 format, including:

• 3D CAD models
• 2D engineering drawings

Pre-requirements:
• Demonstrate acceptable proficiency in NX1980 CAD via an interview through the ZOOM meeting portal.
• A minimum of a 5 years of experience as Designer.
