Job Title: General Laborer Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated General Laborer to join our team at the shipyard, working on tug boats, ferries, and water transport equipment. This role involves various tasks around the shipyard, contributing to the maintenance and construction of boats.

• Assist in various aspects of the shipyard operations.
• Work on tug boats, ferries, and water transport equipment.
• Perform basic cable pulling, wire pulling, and preparation work.
• Help and assist with painting tasks such as rolling and prepping boats.
• Monitor skilled welders to ensure safety and prevent sparks on the ship.
• Handle miscellaneous material and lift parts between boats.
• Drill and insert screws into new or renovated boats.
• Perform overall utility work around the shipyard.
• Assist other employees with labor tasks.

• Experience in general labor, roofing, construction, or warehouse work.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs or more.
• Proficiency in using basic hand and power tools.
• Ability to follow both written and oral instructions.
• Comfortable working outside in all conditions.

• Skills in landscaping, roofing, concrete, demolition, drilling, and lifting boxes.

The shipyard offers a full-year work schedule, providing stability unlike seasonal industries such as construction and roofing. With recent contracts, including military work on Coast Guard ships, there is ample opportunity for growth and advancement into skilled positions like Maintenance, Machining, Electrician, Foreman, Team Lead, or Fabrication. Employees enjoy working 50-hour weeks with room for professional development.

The work environment is perfect for individuals who enjoy the outdoors, as the role involves working on boats, ships, and other water transport equipment outside most of the time. While there are some hangers for larger boats that require covered work, employees should expect exposure to various weather conditions, including hot summers and cold winters. This role is ideal for those who appreciate working in the elements.
