Job Description The Quality Improvement Specialist brings advanced skills and experience as a seasoned quality data and/or Quality Improvement (QI) specialist to medium-sized projects of varying complexity, or as components of large-scale initiatives. This role will uniquely serve to design and integrate processes into standard care workflows to prevent harm or improve outcomes leveraging technology, data, and advanced analytics. More specifically, this role will leverage data and advanced technology to intervene as care is being provided to mitigate unintended outcomes. The Quality Improvement Specialist supports designated clinical areas with data management, including establishing data‑acquisition systems. Develops appropriate reporting structures to support quality reviews for new initiatives. Analyzes and interprets data across multiple levels of complexity and summarizes statistical findings. Creates reports, dashboards, presentations, and action plans, and contributes to the development of executive summaries. Identifies statistical trends and potential issues in patient care and services. Collaborates on highly complex projects within assigned clinical departments to develop corrective action plans and monitor their effectiveness. Within these departments, prepares incident reports and conducts QI reviews of complex mortality cases, sentinel events, readmissions, and other cases identified through screening criteria. Identifies cases requiring urgent review and ensures appropriate follow‑up. Ensures timely and accurate reporting of quality data to internal departments and external agencies. Partners with clinical and technical project teams to apply complex QI models and methodologies aimed at improving clinical care and patient safety, and develops plans to enhance the quality of patient care. Researches best practices and develops proposals to improve data collection and reporting processes and systems. Provides guidance and recommendations on complex clinical QI issues related to functionality, efficiency, and program development. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in nursing (BSN) or other health discipline. Or a combination of comparable clinical education and/or experience. Three (3) or more years of relevant clinical and/or healthcare quality improvement experience. Thorough knowledge of QI standards, clinical chart review, and abstraction, and regulatory requirements. Thorough knowledge of QI models, measurement tools, and techniques, including collection, aggregation, abstraction, validation, analysis, and reporting of data. Detail‑oriented, with proven ability to effectively manage time, see projects through to completion, organize competing priorities, and effectively address complex, urgent issues as they arise. Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills to manage multiple levels of information and responsibilities, to quickly assess complex problems, and to develop and implement timely and effective solutions. Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating effectively with a broad range of clinical and technical staff and representatives of external regulatory agencies and for mentoring lower‑level QI staff. Strong skills required to effectively convey complex clinical and technical information both verbally and in writing, and to produce high‑quality reports and documentation. Strong knowledge of various administrative and business software packages, and of the specialized applications for quality data management. Strong skills to influence staff, management, and clinicians at all levels and across departments. Preferred Qualifications MSN or Master's Degree in a health‑related field. Experience using AI‑driven coordination of care for incidental findings, infection prevention, clinical outreach, and other safety initiatives. Experience with Epic. Lean Six Sigma training and experience. Special Conditions Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
