Title Physical Therapist Assistant Location Waterville, ME Length of Assignment 13 Weeks Shift 08:00 AM - 04:30 PM (Minimum guarantee: 40 hours) Position Summary The Physical Therapist Assistant will primarily provide outpatient rehabilitation services in an in‑home setting for the older adult population, either in a patient’s private residence or in a patient’s room in an independent living facility. The role facilitates increased independence and functioning under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist, providing flexible schedules and work environments across various settings. Responsibilities Attends and contributes to patient care, staffing conferences, and other required meetings as a representative of physical therapy under the direction of the physical therapist. Ensures adherence to departmental and patient treatment schedules and timely clinical and billing documentation. Collaborates with the rehabilitation team to implement programs and activities consistent with each patient’s needs and capabilities. Assists the Physical Therapist during tests, evaluations, and complex procedures. Instructs patients, families, and other caregivers in the techniques of the physical therapy treatment program under supervision. Maintains appropriate and timely documentation for all patients treated. Cleans, maintains, identifies, and reports the need for repair of equipment as necessary. Ensures that patients and families receive high‑quality, compassionate service. Implements the patient’s individualized treatment plan as established by the primary Physical Therapist. Provides individualized physical therapy treatments including but not limited to: Therapeutic exercise (aerobic conditioning, balance, coordination, agility training, postural stabilization, flexibility, gait, locomotion, neuromotor development, relaxation, strength, power, and endurance) Functional training Manual therapy Airway clearance techniques Integumentary repair and protection Use of electrotherapeutic, physical agent, and mechanical modalities Health and wellness promotion Falls risk interventions Chronic disease management education Specific Educational / Vocational Requirements Must have a valid license in the state(s) of practice or proof of license eligibility. Must have a valid driver’s license or reliable, independent transportation to and from patients’ residences. Job Skills Good organizational and time‑management skills. Good verbal and written communication skills. Compliance Complies with applicable legal requirements, standards, policies, and procedures, including those within the Compliance and Ethics Program, Standard/Code of Conduct, Federal False Claims Act, and HIPAA. Participates in required orientation and training programs. Reports concerns and suspected incidences of non‑compliance via the Integrity Hotline. Cooperates with monitoring, audit, and investigative functions. Participates in quality assurance and process improvement activities as requested.
