Travel Registered Nurse (RN) - PCULocation: Summit Medical Center, City, StateUnit Information:Unit Name: PCUNumber of Beds: 34 beds in unit 630; 25 beds in unit 633Patient Ratios: 1:4 to 1:5 on days; 1:5 to 1:6 on nightsStaffing Description: 3 techs when unit 630 is full; 2 techs when unit 633 is fullEquipment: BiPAPs, high flow oxygen, Vapotherm, Alaris pumps, cardiac drips, heparin drips, insulin drips, peritoneal dialysis equipment.Documentation System: MeditechScheduling Requirements:Every other weekend commitment required3 shifts of 12 hours each weekFloating Policy:May require floating between PCU units or to medical-surgical floors.Patient Experience Requirements:Hourly rounding on daysEvery 2-hour rounding on nightsUtilization of AIDET principlesMaintenance of communication boards on the 7th floorDepartment 633 features TV communication boardsCertifications:Basic Life Support (BLS)Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)Qualifications:Requested Skill Set:Must Have: Critical thinking skills, EKG rhythm interpretation, experience with cardiac drips, insulin drips, and heparin drips.Preferred: Experience with peritoneal dialysis and peripheral IV skills.Advanced Skills Needed:ACLS certificationExperience with BiPAPs, high flow oxygen, and various oxygen delivery systemsExperience with stroke care and post-cardiac catheterization carePreferred experience with tube feedings and NG/Dobhoff tubesProcedures Performed on Unit:Peritoneal dialysisThoracentesisParacentesisChest tube insertionsDobhoff/NG tube insertionsCentral line dressing changesTroubleshooting wound vacsDress Code:Required uniform: Black scrubsAdditional Information:Self-scheduling available with a 4-week scheduleContract requires working every other weekendUtilization of techs to assist in patient careHigh likelihood of contract extension after initial assignmentFostering a culture of care and teamwork within the unit
