Under general direction and with little guidance, repairs and assesses malfunctions, rebuilds, and performs maintenance on heavy track equipment common to construction and military operations, such as cranes, power shovels, scrapers, paving machines, motor graders, trench-digging machines, conveyors, bulldozers, dredges, tanks, personnel carriers, large diesel trucks, compressors and pneumatic tools. Operates and inspect machines or equipment to diagnose defects, dismantle/reassemble equipment, examine parts for damage or excessive wear, etc. Replace defective engines and subassemblies.  Tests repaired/overhauled equipment to ensure safe operating efficiency.  May be responsible for welding broken parts, structures and other machinery/attachments. Requires High School graduation or equivalent and 2 years of experience as heavy equipment mechanic.  Trade school training may be preferred.  Specific contract qualifications will prevail, if different. 

• Must have at least 8 years of directly related professional experience.
• Must possess a valid State-issued Driver’s License (Real ID)
• Must be able to provide your own personal tools that meet the required tool list and be able to use government-furnished special tools and facilities.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain local base access.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain Common Access Card (CAC) requirements.
• Must have experience with track vehicle

Physical Requirements:

·         Must be able to stand - between 2 to 3 hours per day.

·         Must be able to walk - between 4 to 5 hours per day.

·         Must be able to Lift - up to 35 lbs. – 50 lbs. periodically.

·         Must be able to squat, knell, bend, reach and climb periodically.

·         Must be able to work outside and inside in non-climate-controlled environments.
