Senior Turbomachinery Engineer

As a senior turbopump engineer you will be a key member of a small and talented team working toward refining our turbomachinery technology across multiple engine platforms. You will own portions of the turbopump technology and provide an active voice in engine test and development. You will report to the Manager of Turbomachinery Core Technology. This is a hybrid position based out of Berthoud, Colorado with the expectation to work on-site 2-3-days per week. Responsibilities: You will support conceptual design and development of new Turbomachinery as the subject matter expert in one or more key areas. You will perform the necessary design trades, preliminary design work and analysis to support this.You will collaborate with the Turbomachinery Design team to put together high performing state of the art new turbomachinery detailed designs that are manufacture-able and flight ready.You will support existing Ursa Major Turbomachinery where applicable to troubleshoot performance or reliability issues in your area(s) of expertise. Required Qualifications: Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.2+ years' experience in turbomachinery design and development with 5+ years' experience in an engineering discipline. 2+ years’ experience working with CAD software, preferably Siemens NX or PTC Creo.Comfortable working in fast-paced, startup environment.Significant experience / technical expertise in one or more of the following areas: Rotor dynamics; balancing fundamentalsTurbine stage aero-mechanical design Hydrodynamic design of pumps / inducers etcTurbomachinery detailed layout and designExperience in a Turbomachinery related analysis software (ANSYS FEA, CFD or other specialized software as applicable) Desired Skills and Experience: Experience with structural and thermal analysis using Ansys FEA softwareProficient major industry CFD software (CFX, Fluent etc)Experience in liquid rocket engine, design, test or analysis Colorado law requires us to tell you the base compensation range of this role, which is $112,000 - $140,000, determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
