Senior Respiratory Therapist (Diagnostics) - University Campus

Position Summary UI Health Care is seeking a full‑time Sr. Respiratory Therapist to direct, organize, review, and coordinate the work of respiratory therapists and technicians within a specific area of assignment and provide respiratory care as required. Responsibilities include delivering respiratory care, assisting in pulmonary endoscopy procedures, hyperbaric treatments, pulmonary function testing, non‑invasive ventilation, medical gas therapy, medicated aerosol therapy, pulmonary hygiene, blood gas sampling, patient education, and supervising respiratory care implementation in the diagnostic testing and hyperbaric units. The role also requires providing diagnostic care expertise, education, routine staffing, and shift operations relief. Compensation and Benefits Eligible for a $10,000 sign‑on incentive if all qualifications are met, including a minimum two‑year commitment (current UI employees are not eligible). Additional advanced respiratory care services differential up to $5,000 (prorated based on percentage). Pay Level: 7 Starting Salary Minimum: $57,905 Starting Salary Maximum: Commensurate Shift and Location Shift: 0700–1530 and required call time. Location: Medical Center University. Percent of Time: 100%. Responsibilities Assist with pulmonary endoscopy and related procedures. Assist with hyperbaric medicine treatments and related procedures. Perform pulmonary function testing and other diagnostic procedures. Perform pulmonary exercise and metabolic testing. Provide all forms of CPAP and BiPAP. Deliver medical gas therapy. Provide medicated aerosol and general therapies safely. Provide pulmonary disease education. Perform blood gas sampling and analysis. Provide non‑invasive monitoring. Participate in orientation/education activities. Assist in the training of students. Adhere to hospital epidemiological practices. Other responsibilities as assigned. Required Qualifications Minimum bachelor’s degree in a health‑related science or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Registered with the National Board for Respiratory Care or National Society for Cardiopulmonary Technology and licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the State of Iowa. Maintain active NBRC membership. 3–5 years of experience in respiratory care practice. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Current State of Iowa Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
