Senior Traffic Engineer Location: Any Fishbeck Michigan Regional Office Employment Type: Full Time For over 70 years Fishbeck has been building. As a 100% employee-owned firm, every team member has a stake in what we build together-our work, our reputation, and our future. Now we need to add a Traffic Engineer to help us keep building. Working with our Transportation team in Michigan , you will lead complex transportation design projects from concept through construction, support client relationships, mentor junior staff, and help grow Fishbeck's Michigan transportation practice. What You'll Do
- Lead the design and development of traffic engineering components, including maintenance of traffic plans, signing and pavement marking layouts, and traffic signal systems.
- Ensure project work complies with MDOT standards, the Michigan Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, and applicable design guidelines.
- Conduct traffic impact studies, safety studies, signal optimization, and traffic forecasting.
- Prepare technical reports, proposals, and construction cost estimates.
- Manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and communication.
- Mentor and support junior staff while coordinating with other disciplines and regional offices.
- Collaborate with clients, local agencies, and contractors to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering.
- 10+ years of traffic engineering experience, including MDOT-related projects.
- Michigan Professional Engineer license required.
- Proficiency in MicroStation; experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of MDOT traffic standards and guidelines.
- Experience with Highway Capacity Software and Synchro; TransModeler experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with the ITE Trip Generation Manual, complex maintenance of traffic design, and traffic studies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with intelligent transportation systems and highway lighting design is a plus.
