Environmental Specialist I (Air Compliance)

Environmental Specialist in Bridgeport, WV
  • Salary Range: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00
  • Direct Hire / Full-Time
  • Onsite (Office & Field)
  • Frequent travel to field operations (approximately 80% field work)
Are you looking to build your environmental career with a role that offers extensive field experience, regulatory exposure, and the opportunity to make a direct impact on environmental compliance and stewardship? We are seeking an Environmental Specialist to support environmental programs, regulatory compliance initiatives, site monitoring activities, and remediation efforts across field operations.

What You'll Do:
  • Support environmental compliance programs and ensure adherence to applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Assist with environmental site monitoring, assessments, and remediation activities.
  • Support permit applications, compliance reporting, and environmental data review and analysis.
  • Maintain environmental records and documentation within the HSSE recordkeeping system.
  • Provide technical and administrative support for environmental investigations, incident response, and complaint resolution efforts.
  • Assist with developing documentation and technical work plans that support environmental programs and initiatives.
  • Conduct routine environmental inspections to maintain compliance with permits and regulatory requirements.
  • Report non-compliant conditions and assist in implementing corrective actions.
  • Stay informed on evolving environmental regulations and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and operational personnel to support environmental objectives.
What We're Looking For:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of environmental regulations, compliance programs, and environmental management practices.
  • Familiarity with regulations including:
    • Clean Water Act (Sections 401 and 404)
    • NPDES
    • SPCC
    • Clean Air Act
    • RCRA Hazardous and Solid Waste regulations
    • USACE, USFWS, and SHPO requirements
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter with strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multiple teams.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
Additional Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to safely operate vehicles, equipment, and tools.
  • Ability to work in both office and field environments.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and navigate challenging terrain when conducting site inspections and evaluations.
  • Availability for occasional after-hours support during urgent situations or emergencies.
