Facilities Maintenance Supervisor

Maintenance SupervisorUnder general supervision from the Facilities Maintenance Superintendent, this position leads and supervises a maintenance team responsible for the maintenance and repair of city buildings and infrastructure. This is accomplished by establishing and assessing work priorities and adjusting schedules as needed to meet maintenance objectives. This position also monitors the safety practices of assigned staff and conducts evaluations and training when necessary.Specific duties and responsibilities include directing, monitoring, and supervising assigned staff to ensure services are being performed as specified, conducting field visits and spot checks of work completed; scheduling and conducting training and safety meetings for assigned personnel; tracking, scheduling, and assisting in conducting preventative maintenance on City building equipment; ensuring equipment and materials are maintained and repaired when needed; overseeing building repair and maintenance tasks, including carpentry work, painting, plumbing, electrical systems, and minor structural construction; determining and recommending equipment, materials, safety needs, devices, and/or equipment for assigned operation, maintenance, and improvement projects; reading and interpreting maps, diagrams, schematics, contracts, and work orders; troubleshooting and diagnosing problems and implementing efficient and effective solutions; overseeing contractors performing work on City facilities; providing timely and responsive actions to internal/external customer concerns, complaints, and claims related to City buildings/facilities; monitoring safety practices of assigned staff and conducting evaluation and training when necessary; and performing other assigned duties.Qualifications include an Associate's Degree, three (3) years of related work experience, HVAC or Master Electrician License, or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; and a valid Class B Driver's License with a good driving record. Position may require work both at night and on weekends for special events or activities.Supplemental information includes knowledge of City policies and procedures, knowledge of methods, materials, and techniques used in facility maintenance operations, knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry, skill in communicating effectively both orally and in writing, ability to work flexible hours, including some nights and weekends; and ability to establish and maintain working relationships with City administration, other employees, and the general public.
