Intermediate Software Engineer

Leidos’ Defense Sector is seeking an Intermediate Software Engineer to support an Army Program focused on delivering advanced capabilities for operational decision-making in complex and dynamic environments. The Intermediate Software Engineer contributes to the design, development, testing, and maintenance of software applications and services. This role is ideal for someone with a solid engineering foundation who is ready to take on more complex tasks, collaborate across teams, and influence technical decisions. Locations include Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD; Fort Belvoir, FL; Tampa, FL

This position is contingent upon program award, anticipated late March.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop, test, and maintain software features of moderate complexity with limited supervision.
• Collaborate with senior engineers, product managers, and QA to refine requirements and deliver solutions.
• Participate in code reviews, contribute constructive feedback, and follow established coding standards.
• Troubleshoot and debug issues across development and test environments.
• Contribute to technical documentation, including design notes, API references, and user guides.
• Support integration, deployment, and CI/CD activities as part of the development lifecycle.
• Write and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and reliability.
• Assist in improving development processes, tools, and team workflows.
• Begin taking ownership of small modules or components within the system architecture.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field with 2+ years of relevant experience or a Master’s degree with less than 2 years of experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI.
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Java, C#, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript).

• Experience with version control systems such as Git.
• Understanding of software development methodologies, data structures, and algorithms.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs, microservices, or distributed systems.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate technical concepts clearly.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
• Exposure to containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with front‑end frameworks (React, Angular, Vue) or back‑end frameworks (.NET, Spring, Django).
• Strong problem‑solving skills and a passion for continuous learning.
• Experience working in an agile or DevOps‑oriented environment.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $69,550.00 - $125,725.00
