Classroom Technology Specialist I Job Title Classroom Technology Specialist I Agency Texas A&M International University Department Office Of Information Technology Proposed Minimum Salary $16.83 hourly Job Location Laredo, Texas Job Type Staff Job Description Job Summary The Classroom Technology Specialist I, under general supervision,diagnoses and repairs hardware and software failures and conflicts,configures computers, resolves connectivity issues within local andwide-area networks and provides support for technology-relatedcourses in the support of instruction. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Tracks and assists in the coordination of equipment repair andwork order assignments. Provides detailed work records whichoutline the history of tests, performance problems, and repairs foreach piece of equipment. Provides support for labs, classroom computers, peripherals,music and theatre computer labs, recording studios, multimediateaching labs, theatrical spaces and site-specificinstallations. Creates software images and manages technical resources fordeployment. Attends trainings and assists in researching, testing, anddisseminating operation instructions. Tracks developments andspecifications in state-of-the-art technologies, computers,peripherals, and test equipment. Provides consultative and technical services to campuscommunity. Prepares requisitions and inventory acquisitions of productsand services. Assists in training and coordinating tasks of studentworkers. Additional Responsibilities Supervisory position that requires managing part-time employeesand student lab assistants. Be proactive at reducing downtime of instructional equipment(lecterns and computer labs). Assist in event request setups including setup of projectors,laptops and PA systems. Minimum Requirements Education - Bachelor's degree in (CIS, MIS or relatedfield). Experience - One year of related experience. Preferred Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in CIS, MIS or related field At least 2 years' experience in audio/visual (A/V) or computertechnician related field Prior supervisory experience. Knowledge and Abilities Knowledge of: Word processing, spreadsheet, and databaseapplications. Desktop repair, software support, and basic networkingelements. Computer security and administration tools. Knowledge ofadministrating various computer lab environments includingvisualization, imaging, and desktop security. Ability to: Multitask and work cooperatively with others. Communicate clearly and effectively to ensureunderstanding. Preferred Knowledge and Abilities Experience in an educational environment. Related customer service experience. Licensing / Professional Certification - None. Physical Requirements - General Office Environment.
