Shipyard Production Support Specialist

Massachusetts Maritime Academy

Provide deck-plate support for all trades to ensure production progresses efficiently from contract signing through delivery. Ensure project scopes/specifications are met throughout construction and assist in administrative and technical project duties as needed to achieve project goals. Willingness and ability to work with various trades is required. Primary Responsibilities: Create, maintain, and track project-related logs, checklists, punch lists and daily work logs. Assist supervisors in managing workflow among trades and work with various departments to facilitate proper flow of information and materials for production. Monitors need dates for materials and assist trades with inventory, purchasing, and receiving to ensure production tasks progress according to schedule. Assist in subcontractor and vendor coordination and ensure production tasks are completed according to the established schedule. Collaborate with Engineering Department to obtain latest information/manuals for the vessels, ensure each trade is moving forward with installations per the appropriate drawings and specifications, and distribute updated drawings or system information to trades as needed. Adhere to procedures and verify documentation requirements for installation, alignment and activation activities. Participate in test and activation on vessels. Assist in coordination with vendors for necessary commissioning and sea trials as needed and work with regulatory bodies and Owner’s Representatives to ensure testing is completed according to specifications. Assist in maintaining associated activation, test and trials documentation. Monitor projects and production status and report on physical progress to assist in progress tracking. Identify potential bottlenecks to meet trials and delivery dates, evaluate and coordinate rework tasks, and identify potential change orders including evaluation of production impacts. Assist in schedule tracking and report on potential setbacks or improvements. All other related tasks as assigned. Key Skills & Qualifications: Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical specifications required. Strong organizational and communication skills required. Understanding of marine systems. Familiarity with project management software and tools (timekeeping software, Microsoft Suite Programs, etc.). Experience with budgets, schedules, and shipbuilding/construction processes. Shipyard experience and a background in a relevant field like engineering or construction management preferred. #J-18808-Ljbffr MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME ACADEMY
