What will I do?

• Install CNC machines according to OEM specifications and verify they meet tolerance requirements.
• Use blueprints, manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams to plan and execute installations and repairs.
• Operate systems to demonstrate functionality and to pinpoint malfunctions.
• Troubleshoot, tune, and repair using electronic test instruments and hand tools.
• Consult with engineering on unusual or complex operational issues.
• Set up, align, and assemble equipment; conduct detailed inspections of operating parts.
• Determine the right tools, parts, and test gear for each scope of work.
• Perform routine maintenance; help customers build sound preventive maintenance schedules.
• Measure precisely with calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
• Coordinate with internal/external project managers and keep supervisors and customers informed daily.
• Report any accident or mistake immediately; take on additional tasks as assigned.

Where will I work?

Mainly on the shop floor and at customer sites. Expect travel about 15–20% of the time, with occasional overnight stays, including trips lasting 1–2 weeks.

What do I need to bring?

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; no prior machine technician experience required.
• Comfort using fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
• Proficiency with email, recordkeeping, databases, word processing, spreadsheets, and graphics; strong Microsoft Office skills.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Fanuc CNC control knowledge (required).

What are the physical demands?

About 20% of your time is spent stationary operating machinery; you’ll frequently move around the shop to transport parts and access tools. Expect to reach above and below machines, perform both fine and gross manipulations, communicate clearly, identify defects at short distances, and regularly lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs while carrying and loading tools and parts.

What’s the environment like?

Occasional exposure to wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes/airborne particles, and toxic/caustic chemicals. PPE is required; in warm months, PPE may increase heat. Noise is generally moderate but can be loud around certain equipment.
