Lead Piping Designer

Lead Piping Designer Lead Piping Designer under broad direction at KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS), responsible for supervising and leading a team of designers. This role provides technical direction, is responsible for employee performance appraisals, coaching lower-level professionals, and manages budgeting, scheduling, and quality for mid‑to‑large engineering programs. Responsibilities Design, specify, and service piping systems and piping layout, including material selection, material line classes, standard and specialty components, and conduct pressure, weight, thermal, and vibration analysis as well as piping support system design. Lead a team of designers on multiple independent projects and oversee the overall budget, schedule, and quality of the piping group. Assist in conducting piping reviews of all project packages prior to IFC, ensuring that quality procedures were followed. Review project design estimates and work scopes for new projects. Coordinate scope in a multi‑office environment. Provide employee performance appraisals and coaching for lower‑level professionals. Perform site visits to client locations as required. Qualifications Minimum 15 years of industry piping/mechanical experience in the chemical and industrial sectors. Proficient with 3D piping software (E3D preferred) and 2D MicroStation or AutoCAD. Experience navigating 3D models with Navisworks. Strong Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.). Ability to travel and work at client sites. Physical Qualifications Work may be performed at client sites, requiring exposure to ambient temperature extremes. Might require wearing fire‑retardant clothing, hearing and eye protection, hard hats, and steel‑toed boots. Typical office activities include sitting or standing for extended periods, repeated use of keyboard and mouse, and lifting or carrying items less than 20 lbs.
