Senior Industrial Designer | Beauty Retail & Visual Merchandising

Salary Range: $150,000-$200,000 annually, based on experience

We're looking for an experienced Senior Industrial Designer who is equally passionate about concept development and bringing ideas to life. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with an experienced team of designers, engineers, project managers, and manufacturing specialists while creating retail environments seen by millions of shoppers every year.

What You'll Design

You'll help develop a wide range of retail experiences, including:

• Luxury beauty fixtures
• Shop-in-shop environments
• Tester displays and fragrance merchandising
• Gondola systems and endcaps
• Countertop displays
• Visual merchandising programs
• Client presentation concepts and high-quality 3D renderings

Responsibilities

• Develop innovative retail display, fixture, and visual merchandising concepts for prestige beauty and lifestyle brands.
• Create compelling 3D renderings, visualizations, and presentation materials for client presentations and internal reviews.
• Translate brand strategy and visual identity into engaging in-store experiences.
• Design permanent and semi-permanent fixtures, gondola systems, tester displays, endcaps, shop-in-shops, and promotional environments.
• Collaborate closely with Creative, Engineering, Production, and Account Management to ensure concepts are both inspiring and manufacturable.
• Develop sketches, mood boards, material palettes, and concept narratives.
• Participate in client presentations, creative reviews, and brainstorming sessions.
• Stay current on beauty, retail, visual merchandising, materials, and consumer trends.
• Manage multiple projects while maintaining exceptional creative standards and meeting project deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of experience in industrial design, retail design, visual merchandising, or a related field, with strong experience designing luxury beauty, cosmetics, skincare, fragrance, or prestige retail environments.
• Advanced proficiency in 3ds Max .
• Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
• Excellent sketching and concept communication skills.
• Strong understanding of retail fixture construction, materials, manufacturing processes, and production methods.
• Experience developing concepts from ideation through production.
• Excellent presentation, storytelling, and communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced creative environment.

Preferred Experience

Experience designing for retailers such as:

• Sephora
• Ulta Beauty
• Macy's
• Bloomingdale's
• Nordstrom
• Other prestige beauty retailers

Knowledge of:

• Acrylic, metal, wood, lighting, printed graphics, and cosmetic merchandising systems.
• Shop-in-shops and open-sell retail environments.
• AI-assisted visualization tools and emerging retail technologies.
