Job Title Assistant/Associate Extension Agent (Fisheries/Coastal Resources) – Faculty, non‑tenure track, 100% Extension. Location St. Tammany Parish Extension Office, Covington, Louisiana. Primary service area: St. Tammany and Tangipahoa parishes, >1.2million acres of land and water. Job Profile This position is part of the Marine Extension Project (MEP), a joint program of LSU AgCenter and Louisiana Sea Grant College Program. Responsibilities Plan, execute, and evaluate multidisciplinary educational programs for residents, local officials, natural resource users, private landowners, and coastal marine‑related businesses in the two‑parish region. Develop non‑advocacy outreach addressing the impacts of rapid community and economic development on water resources, wetlands, fisheries, and other natural resources. Establish advisory committee(s) to help formulate and evaluate annual plans that aid residents and elected officials in making informed decisions about development in unincorporated areas and smaller municipalities. Use a variety of communication methods, including personal contact, workshops and conferences, web‑based content, mass media, publications, fact sheets, public presentations, membership, and local and regional advisory committees or task forces. Prepare and submit professional written materials such as reports, publications, fact sheets, and executive summaries. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in natural resource management, fisheries, wildlife, biology, marine science, environmental science, or a related field. Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 (undergraduate) and 3.0 (graduate). Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills. Experience in applied research, data collection, user group participation, and applied resource management. Experience in planning and executing educational programs and collaborating with individuals and groups. Knowledge of public relations and ability to adapt to change. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to collaborate with others. Salary and Benefits Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Faculty members without a related master’s degree must complete an additional 12 hours of related graduate‑level coursework to be promoted to associate agent within the first seven years of employment (additional agent experience may substitute for 12 hours of coursework, but not for the required course). Background check required; offer of employment contingent on satisfactory pre‑employment background check.
