Job Description\n American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN SICU - Surgical Intensive Care for a travel nursing job in New Orleans, Louisiana.Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: SICU - Surgical Intensive Care\n Discipline: RN\n Start Date: 10/12/2026\n Duration: 13 weeks\n 36 hours per week\n Shift: 12 hours, nights\n Employment Type: Travel\n \n Assignment Overview\n \n Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs\n Hours: 36 hrs/wk\n Start Date: Oct 12, 2026\n Length: 13 weeks\n Openings: 1\n Description\n American Traveler is hiring an experienced Surgical ICU RN with required transplant experience and post cardiac surgery skills for a high-acuity night shift position.Details\n \n Work in a high-acuity Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) and Transplant ICU setting\n Patient ratio of 1:2\n Night shift schedule with 3x12 or 4x12 hour options, 18:45-7:15\n Float requirement to other ICUs and Step-Down Units (SDUs)\n Epic EMR experience required\n No block scheduling requests accommodated\n No call-in shifts required\n Requirements\n \n Active LA or compact RN license required in hand upon submittal\n Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS\n Minimum 2 years of specialty experience required\n Required transplant experience: liver, heart, lung, kidney, and/or pancreas\n Post Cardiac Surgery (directly from the OR) experience required\n Previous travel nursing experience required\n Skills required include arterial line management, central line care, ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips\n Experience with Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT/CVVHD) required\n Experience with chronic/acute renal failure required\n Preferred experience with PA catheters and balloon pumps\n Up-to-date NURSYS report required (within 4 weeks of submission)\n Additional Information\n \n Provide critical care to post-surgical and transplant recovery patients, including CABG, valve replacement/repair, aortic dissection, and organ transplant recovery (liver, heart, lung, kidney, pancreas)\n May be assigned to an Emergency Team requiring the traveler to remain onsite during an emergency event or serve as part of a relief team\n Orientation is held five days a week\n Two Manager/Supervisor references (not Charge RN) required prior to starting the contract, though not required for initial consideration\n Candidates must reside more than 65 miles from the facility to be eligible for this travel position\n Former permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have a one-year separation from the health system before returning as a travel nurse\n RTO must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process to avoid risk of offer rescission\n \n \n American Traveler Job ID #P-746367.
