RESPONSIBILITIES If and when the duties and responsibilities change and develop, the job description will be reviewed and subject to changes of business necessity. 1. Design + Analysis // Independently execute design tasks for moderately complex projects, supporting Project Managers and Project Engineers.Utilize engineering and drafting software to develop, refine, and coordinate plan, profile, cross-section, and utility drawings.Interpret survey data, utility records, specifications, and engineering plans to develop accurate and complete design base files.Translate engineering concepts and direction into coordinated and constructable plan sets.Incorporate and manage redlines and review comments with minimal rework.Perform design calculations, including grading, drainage, utility layouts, and quantity takeoffs.Identify design conflicts, discrepancies, and constructability concerns and propose solutions for review.Coordinate field data integration and support design adjustments based on findings if applicable. 2. Compliance + Quality //Apply Company QA/QC processes and procedures in the preparation of design deliverables.Perform thorough self-checks and assist in peer reviews of design deliverables.Maintain compliance with company standards, client requirements, and applicable regulations. 3. Communication + Collaboration // Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, and multidisciplinary teams to support design progress.Communicate design status, risks, and issues clearly and proactively.Provide guidance to Design staff on design execution and standards. 4. Training, Learning + Advancement // Mentor junior design staff and support skill development in drafting tools and workflows.Assist in developing and improving drafting standards, workflows, and reusable resources. 5. Technical //Engage directly with clients to gather requirements, present technical solutions, and provide regular project updates; ensure alignment of deliverables with client expectations.Mentor junior designers & support team development through knowledge sharing and quality review. Apply the client’s standards, guidelines, specifications, practices, and procedures and/or appropriate industry standards in preparing layouts of overhead and/or underground electric distribution facilities.Prepare manual or computer assisted design and construction drawings of a complex nature, cost estimates and bill of materials and any other required documents and reports for construction and maintenance projects.Assist in the performance of load studies on distribution circuits and transformers; investigate circuit reliability and voltage issues to determine necessary corrective action.Prepare and submit required reports and correspondence.Utilize client and Company information systems to track and update design activities.Acquire field data necessary to prepare the appropriate design.Ability to handle contacts with clients and other agencies in connection with project design responsibilities.Field verification of equipment and marking/staking new facilities.Other job-related duties as assigned. PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS + ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS Most work is performed in a professional office environment. Some trips to client offices and outdoor environments for observations will be required.Seated and Standing Position. Extended periods of sitting and standing in an upright position at a workstation.Mobility. Movement within the office and job sites, including navigating between floors, workstations, and outdoor environments with potential for uneven surfaces.Neck Movement. Forward flexion, extension, or lateral rotation of the head and neck while using multiple computer screens.Repetitive Motion. Repetitive finger movements for operating a computer mouse and typing on a keyboard.Arm Movement. Extending hands and arms in various directions, such as overhead, below the waist, forward, or laterally.Object Handling. Includes extensive use of electronic devices such as computers, printers, copiers, scanners, plotters, and telephones. Additionally, tasks may involve the use of cutting tools and equipment like rotary paper cutters and plotting devices.Outdoor Conditions. Includes walking and climbing on uneven surfaces, confined spaces, and exposure to extreme weather conditions (heat and freezing temperatures). Potential exposure to high noise levels and various allergens, including poison ivy, sumac, dust, pollen, and cedar. Potential exposure to wildlife hazards such as animals, insects, and plants.Safety and Equipment Use. Regular use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, along with use of hand and power tools.Driving and Vehicle Use. May involve driving large pick-up trucks with attached trailers, potentially operating watercraft, and for extended periods of time. EXPECTED WORK HOURSThis is a full-time position, generally 40 hours per week, however, hours may fluctuate depending on department needs including the use of overtime. CobbFendley’s standard operating hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM CST. Generally, employees receive a 1-hour unpaid lunch break free of duty. Please note, operating hours and lunch hours may differ based on project workload, primarily for field staff. WORK LOCATION FLEXIBILTY This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule once the training period is complete as established by the department.
