Position Title: High School Head Track Coach Reports To: Middle School/High School Athletic Director Summary: Responsible for coaching and providing direction to student-athletes, organizing and running practices, coaching all scheduled contests, maintaining equipment, and overseeing the program. Responsibilities Promote the program and recruit interested students through fliers, announcements, and conversations. Follow all building procedures and district policies. Instruct and demonstrate skills necessary for individual and team improvement and achievement. Create and implement a plan for each practice that demands maximum participation of all student-athletes on teams. Coach all players. Work with the athletic director and Innsbrook to create a season-long practice schedule given to student-athletes prior to the opening of the season. Work with the athletic director to assure the creation of a competitive contest schedule. Communicate with parents all necessary information regarding schedules, cancellations, rescheduled games, or postponements. Adhere to all financial policies of the Wright City School District, in regard to the collection and expenditure of money, use of receipts, and tracking expenses. Work with the athletic director and transportation director to arrange appropriate transportation to all away contests. Travel with and supervise players on trips, or arrange for an assistant coach to do so. Make recommendations to the athletic director concerning all supply, uniform, and/or equipment purchases that showcase an understanding of budgeted funds. Ensure the proper cleaning, storage, and maintenance of all athletic equipment, supplies, and uniforms. Maintain and update an accurate inventory of all equipment, supplies, and uniforms, including golf bags. Provide an accurate roster of eligible student-athletes to the Athletic Director prior to the first contest, and communicates in-season changes of the roster. Work with Innsbrook to determine the proper placement of student-athletes while on the course. Ensure that all students who travel from Wright City High School to Innsbrook at the conclusion of the school day have written permission from parents to allow students to travel. Ensure that all necessary MSHSAA eligibility paperwork has been completed for each athlete, and keep a copy of completed physical forms on hand during all contests. Complete all necessary MSHSAA coaching requirements prior to the beginning of the season. Create and police a set of enforceable procedures governing the scholastic and behavioral progress of student-athletes in the program. Set high expectations for both behavior and academic success. Maintain a safe environment for student-athletes at all times, ensuring that medical and safety requirements are adhered to. Complete a Student Injury Report form for any student-athlete sustaining any type of injury during any practice or contest. Interact professionally with students, staff, parents, fellow coaches, and officials at all times, and resolve any and all conflicts in a professional manner. Maintain a professional relationship with the media at all times and make statements to the media that demonstrate a positive message about the Wright City School District and all employees and students of the district. Ensure that all facilities utilized are cared for and that all district buildings utilized are secured and lights turned off before leaving. Supervise all student-athletes until they have left or have been picked up by parents at the conclusion of practices or contests. Attend all Eastern Missouri Conference and MSHSAA-sponsored events. Maintain appropriate certifications and secure all confidential information. Attend all scheduled practices. Make playing golf a fun, learning atmosphere. Qualifications Education and/or Experience: Missouri teaching certification Experience working with student of all athletic levels/abilities Knowledge of golf fundamentals/golf coaching background Essential Functions To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following essential functions satisfactorily. The ability to accompany students anywhere on school premises. The employee is asked to run or jog, to demonstrate athletic moves and to maintain a high level of energy.
