Job Title: Grinding Machine Operator

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Grinding Machine Operator with experience in setting up and operating older manual grinders. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of precision machining, tight tolerances, and the ability to read blueprints and perform basic math calculations.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate grinding machines (OD/ID or surface) depending on shop requirements.
• Perform precision grinding on various metal components.
• Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions.
• Make necessary offsets, adjust tooling, and dial in set-ups for optimal performance.
• Inspect finished parts using micrometers, calipers, and other precision gauges.

Essential Skills

• 2+ years of experience with ID/OD grinding, preferably with older manual machines.
• Strong understanding of precision machining and tight tolerances.
• Ability to read blueprints and perform basic math calculations.
• Experience with inspection tools such as micrometers and bore gauges.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in aerospace industry is a plus.
• Proficient with centerless grinding and manual machines.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Loves Park, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr.
