Mortgage Underwriter I

Reviews and evaluates residential mortgage loans to ensure underwriting standards are met. Approves or rejects loans within established guidelines. Essential Functions/Responsibilities: Reviews and evaluates information on mortgage loan documents to determine if buyer, property and loan conditions meet established investor standards for all conventional, private investor and portfolio loans. Ensures compliance with industry standards, state and federal laws and disclosure requirements. Meet all departmental goals for productivity, quality, and turnaround time. Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed to Perform Essential Functions of the Job: 1-2 years of Underwriting Experience OR 5 + years of Processing Experience High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Knowledge and Skills: Level of Complexity and Scope: Degree of Independence and Decision-Making: Required Supervisory Responsibilities: Physical Requirements: Occasionally lifts and carries up to 20 lbs. Frequently lifts and carries up to 10 lbs. Frequently sits, stands and walks. Pay Range: $25.00- $32.21/hour Compliance Statement: The associate is responsible for meeting all compliance requirements imposed on First Financial Bank by State and Federal law and regulation, as well as all related First Financial Bank policies and procedures. This includes all Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, OFAC and Suspicious Activity reporting requirements, as well as all other lending and deposit compliance requirements.
