SIGN OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR

Description The State Highway Administration's (SHA) Office of Traffic and Safety (OOTS) is recruiting a Sign Operations Supervisor for Anne Arundel County. The role supports the Traffic Operations Division (TOD) by overseeing day‑to‑day sign shop operations, managing workflow, prioritizing tasks, and supervising state and contractual sign technicians. Primary Responsibilities Assist the Sign Operations Manager in technical and administrative duties in their absence, including sign request review, sign layout and fabrication concerns, leave and payroll approvals. Oversee day‑to‑day shop operations, organize workflow, prioritize tasks, and supervise state and contract sign technicians. Develop and maintain daily production schedules for highway signs and markers. Maintain statewide inventory of sign materials and evaluate product quality. Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including use of protective clothing and equipment. Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience: Four years in sign fabrication, including at least one year in a team‑leader capacity overseeing sign fabrication work. Preferred: Knowledge of sign fabrication processes and equipment; computer‑aided sign technology; Maryland Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and Maryland Standard Sign Book; basic mathematical calculations. Licenses & Certifications Valid Maryland driver’s licence with fewer than four points. Forklift and telehandler certification obtained within six months of hire. Additional Information Essential position requiring 24‑hour, 7‑day availability for emergencies.
