Nuclear Medicine Technologist II - PRN

Overview This PRN position will work varied shifts during weekdays and weekends based on department needs, plus a call rotation. FLSA Status: Non-exempt Key Responsibilities Perform a variety of nuclear medicine procedures, including complex diagnostic and therapeutic processes. Mentor Nuclear Medicine Technologist I and students. Provide direct assistance to physicians during procedures. Deliver exceptional patient care following radiation safety standards. People Essential Functions Promote a positive work environment and contribute to a team-focused unit. Guide and mentor Nuclear Medicine Technologist I and students to build confidence in skills. Facilitate open, professional communication and role‑model best practices. Service Essential Functions Perform nuclear medicine procedures. Proactively assess and respond to patient needs for optimal care and image quality. Provide direct assistance to physicians during diagnostic or therapeutic interventions, including sterile technique. Offer accurate explanations and instructions to patients and families. Quality/Safety Essential Functions Follow safety standards and use ALARA principles to protect patients and staff. Maintain sterile techniques and comply with radiation safety and infection control procedures. Identify opportunities for corrective action and process improvement. Ensure imaging equipment has undergone required quality control checks. Assist with implementation and education of department‑based safety initiatives. Finance Essential Functions Provide accurate documentation of procedures and enter charges promptly. Use resources efficiently and manage time effectively. Growth/Innovation Essential Functions Participate in special projects and department initiatives. Foster a positive teaching environment by engaging students and co‑workers. Qualifications Education Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s) indicated below in the Certifications, Licenses and Registrations section. Experience Three years’ experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist. Licenses and Certifications BLS – Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA) – American Heart Association. CMRT – Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist – State Licensure – Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation_PSV. Must have one of the following: ARRT‑N – Radiologic Technologist – Nuclear Medicine Tech (ARRT) CNMT – Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMTCB) Skills and Abilities Demonstrate necessary skills and competencies for safe job performance. Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English. Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and team members. Work independently and handle challenging diagnostic procedures. Possess basic computer knowledge for system operations. Exhibit strong interpersonal and teamwork skills. Adapt to multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
