Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.


Summary

The Clinical Operations Supervisor provides operational, financial, and administrative leadership for the Adult Developmental Clinic within the Department of Medicine. Working in close partnership with faculty, medical directors, and departmental leadership, this position is responsible for overseeing daily clinical operations, optimizing clinic performance, managing staff and resources, supporting quality and value-based care initiatives, and ensuring effective financial stewardship. The Supervisor promotes efficient, patient-centered operations through data-driven decision-making, process improvement, workforce management, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. This role also supports faculty, trainee, and educational program activities while advancing the strategic goals of the section and institution.

The ideal candidate will have proven ability to work independently. Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to advise faculty, leadership, and external sponsors.

This position is located at our McNair Campus.

Job Duties

Clinical Operations (70%):

• Provides oversight and direction to clinical operations to ensure clinic access, utilization, and coverage goals are consistently met.
• Partners with medical director and department leadership on personnel management, staffing models, and workflow optimization.
• Collaborates with the medical director to evaluate and optimize billing practices and revenue cycle opportunities.
• Collaborates with the Medical director to ensure appropriate social work staffing and alignment with patient care needs.
• Supports quality improvement initiatives and performance on value-based care and clinical quality metrics.
• Supports faculty advancement processes, including promotion packet coordination and tracking.
• Provides oversight and financial management support for value-based care models, including monitoring performance and associated financial impact.
• Assists in the development financial proformas to support strategic growth initiatives, including FTE expansion and program development.
• Supervises support and clinical staff, including setting priorities, monitoring performance, and supporting professional development.
• Coordinates clinical on-boarding processes for residents, fellows, and trainees to ensure compliance with institutional requirements.

Financial Management (15%):

• Manages budgets across multiple funding sources, including salary, grants, clinic funds, general funds, and philanthropy accounts.
• Analyzes and presents financial data (e.g. budget and performance metrics) to section leadership and external affiliates to support decision-making.
• Ensures appropriate use and reconciliation of funds, including tracking spend-down and identifying variances.

Administrative Operations (15%):

• Serves as a liaison between section leadership, faculty, clinical staff, affiliates.
• Identifies and implements process improvements to enhance operational efficiency, compliance, and service delivery.
• Provides support for fellowship programs and trainee initiatives.
• Partners with education leadership to support program operations and trainee experience.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Finance, or related field).
• Four to five years of relevant experience in healthcare operations, finance, research grants or administration.
• Prior experience in an academic medical center or higher education environment, preferably within a Department of Medicine or similar clinical/research setting.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, financial modeling, and variance analysis).
