Summer Camp Assistant Director - Princeton

Location : 650 Great Rd., Princeton, NJ 08540 Camp Dates : 6/22/2026 (Mon) – 8/14/2026 (Fri) Includes one weekend to set up, one weekend to break down, and an orientation date. Camp Hours : 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. (actual shifts vary) Hourly Wage : $19.25 – $21.75 per hour (depending on experience and other factors) About Steve & Kate’s : We put radical trust in kids so that they learn to trust themselves. Job Summary The role is to help run all facets of a self‑directed summer camp, working alongside directors and leading teams, building relationships, and ensuring safe, engaging experiences. Key Responsibilities Facilitate a variety of activities (sewing, stop‑motion animation, maker space, performing arts, crafts, lounging, recreation, etc.) Supervise campers and monitor safety and wellness throughout the day Maintain organized, approachable activity spaces that encourage self‑selection Ensure compliance with camp policies and safety protocols Record and report incidents, injuries, and other notable concerns Track and respect camper allergies and dietary restrictions Add daily updates and photos to campers’ profiles Support opening/closing duties and manage operations when the director is absent Lead, train, and inspire fellow staff members Prepare for advancement to director positions Qualifications At least 21 years old with a high school diploma or GED (Bachelor’s degree preferred) Minimum 2 months camp experience or 1 year in education or child‑care setting Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds, stand for long periods, and participate in athletic activities Comfortable speaking with parents, children, and staff, handling sensitive conversations Willingness to grow in challenging areas and promote self‑directed learning Passionate about sharing knowledge and learning from all ages Past management or leadership experience preferred Preferred: meets local Camp Director qualifications or is a former Steve & Kate’s employee Physical Requirements Maintain safety and health rules of the location Organize and maintain clean, accessible activity spaces Assist in camp set‑up and break‑down during move‑in and move‑out weekends Stand for extended periods while supervising and facilitating activities Participate in athletic games as required Benefits Eligible for sick time where local regulations mandate Equal Opportunity Statement Steve & Kate’s Camp and Bright Horizons comply with all laws requiring reasonable accommodations for qualifying disabilities and/or pregnancy‑related limitations.
