Mortgage Loan Officer
Primary responsibilities include the solicitation and origination of mortgage, real estate related and other HomeTrust Bank loan products. The incumbent counsels borrowers to ensure they acquire a loan product appropriate to their circumstances, assesses the best options for the customer's needs, and makes appropriate recommendations. This position analyzes the prospective borrower's income and debt, counsels borrower on credit record or other problems, and pre-qualifies the borrower.
Key responsibilities include originating mortgage loans, interviewing customers and completing detailed loan applications, prequalifying borrowers using standard underwriting procedures, counseling customers on home buying and financing process, developing and maintaining personal loan pipeline, working with Loan Processor to facilitate underwriting and processing phases of loans, answering telephone and written inquiries concerning active loans and bank loan offerings, cross-selling financial institution products and services as appropriate, and providing disclosures to borrower including Truth in Lending and Good Faith Estimates.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Required: 3+ years of experience required as a retail loan originator, processor, sales assistant or equivalent experience with a proven sales record. Good basic computer skills. Must be bondable, and valid driver's license. Ability to understand and use bank loan policies and procedures to support positive customer interactions. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, staff, and the general public in a positive, problem solving manner. Ability to listen to and convey accurately and quickly, detailed information, important instructions and/or ideas. Ability to think and act independently within guidelines and limitations of bank policy and assigned personal authority. Proficient in Microsoft Office products. Preferred: College degree in related field.

Work Environment, Physical Requirements: This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Physical activity requiring reaching, sifting, lifting up to 25 lbs., finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, repetitive motions, talking and hearing are required. The employee will frequently communicate and must be able to exchange accurate information with others. The employee may need to move around their office to attend meetings and to access files, machinery or other job-related tools.
