Staff+ Software Engineer, Developer Experience

Responsibilities

• Drive technical direction for the Claude Console and documentation platform from problem definition through launch.
• Establish platform patterns, standards, component architectures, and development best practices for internal teams.
• Own SDKs across seven languages and the CLI, partnering with API teams to deliver ergonomic features on day one.
• Drive code generation, testing, and release pipelines that maintain consistency across SDK languages and enable rapid shipping.
• Lead complex developer-facing full-stack products and cross-team organizational alignment through influence.
• Mentor peers and contribute to the growth of the engineering organization.

Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years of practical full-stack engineering experience.
• Ideally 2 or more years operating at a Staff or equivalent technical leadership level.
• Experience leading the design and delivery of complex developer-facing products across the full stack.
• Technical expertise in modern frontend and backend development, including depth in languages and frameworks such as React and TypeScript.
• Product-focused approach to building robust, scalable, and easy-to-use solutions.
• Experience in early-stage startups or other fast-moving environments, ideally building products from 0 to 1.
• Experience establishing engineering standards, component architectures, and development best practices.
• Demonstrated ability to drive cross-team or cross-organization alignment and work effectively through influence.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.

Benefits

• Annual compensation range is $405,000–$485,000 USD.
• Hybrid policy currently expects staff to work from an office at least 25% of the time, with some roles requiring more office time.
• Preference is given to candidates based in New York or the Bay Area.
