Associate Actuary (HYBRID)

Our Personal Lines team is currently seeking an Associate Actuary in our CT, MA or MI offices in a hybrid work arrangement. This is a full-time, exempt role. POSITION OVERVIEW: Takes a lead role on actuarial projects. Independently conduct analytical problem solving. Employees new techniques depending on project requirements, leveraging advanced analytics where appropriate. Present results and recommended actions consistent with the business strategy of the organization. Provides guidance to junior team members in the fulfillment of their duties. Pursuit of FCAS professional designation preferred. IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL: Collaborates with other business members to identify and solve business problems. Leads meetings, able to influence business partners and articulate findings. Able to understand data and identify root causes behind trends. Recommends improvements to ratemaking processes, reserve methods, or other equivalent processes and procedures. Recommends, designs, and develops experience exhibits and analyses to interpret results, determine business strategies or solve business problems. Performs projects/analysis that require knowledge of advanced actuarial concepts/methods and/or advanced analytic approaches. Prepares necessary systems specifications. Accountable for responding to insurance department inquiries. Takes initiative to ensure compliance with various state and federal regulations. Capable of testifying at a rate hearing if necessary. Responsible for communicating results/issues to upper-level management. Develops leadership skills and provides coaching, mentoring and/or technical guidance to junior team members. May lead or participate in community recruiting and/or training activities. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders using appropriate channels, including phone, email, teams, and in person interactions as required. Ability to maintain sound judgement and attention to detail while managing multiple priorities under pressure in a fast-paced environment. WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY: Bachelor’s Degree Five or more years of technical experience in multiple LOB and/or actuarial disciplines, such as pricing, reserving or predictive modeling. ACAS Designation or higher or equivalent work experience. Possesses a detailed understanding of actuarial concepts/methods and the ability to research and employ new techniques depending on project requirements. Demonstrated ability to diagnose business problems. Advanced skills using Microsoft Office, including Excel. Intermediate programming skills, including the ability to develop and automate processes. Ability to multitask and meet all deadlines with quality product.
