Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Phlebotomist to join our team. The successful candidate will perform blood draws and other specimen collections while ensuring proper labeling and processing of specimens. This role offers an opportunity to work with a large, well-established medical diagnostic company onsite at a nationally recognized hospital lab.
Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, including venipuncture and other specimen collections such as urine and fecal samples.
• Demonstrate proficiency in using straight needles and butterfly needles.
• Label and centrifuge specimens accurately, ensuring correct storage by freezing them as required by test specifications.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and update patient information accordingly.
• Record data and maintain detailed records of specimens, ensuring compliance with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Understand and comply with lab orders, physicians' orders, and blood work orders.
• Decontaminate and maintain the integrity of specimens during transport.

Essential Skills

• 1+ year of phlebotomy experience in a medical diagnostic lab setting or hospital laboratory.
• Proficiency in venipunctures in a lab or hospital lab setting.
• Phlebotomy, blood draw, and specimen processing skills.
• Experience with pediatrics, oncology, and geriatric patients.
• Understanding of vacutainer systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience in a hospital laboratory setting is advantageous.

Work Environment
The position is based in the Ocala patient service center, with a schedule of Monday to Friday, 7am to 3:30pm. The role requires working onsite at a nationally recognized hospital lab within a large, established medical diagnostic company.

This is a Contract position based out of Ocala, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
