Ability to handle problems, communicate orally and in writing, plan and prioritize activities, assess student achievement, maintain a safe learning environment, work collaboratively with peers and administrators, and remain professionally and ethically sound. Responsibilities Planning / Preparation Create or select short‑ and long‑range plans based on district and state curriculum requirements. Identify specific intended learning outcomes that are challenging, meaningful, and measurable. Plan and prepare a variety of learning activities considering students’ culture, learning styles, special needs, and socio‑economic background. Develop or select instructional activities that foster active involvement in the learning process. Identify, select and modify instructional materials to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs. Administrative / Management Maintain a positive, organized, and safe learning environment. Use time effectively. Manage materials and equipment effectively. Use effective student behavior management techniques. Enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policies. Establish and maintain effective record‑keeping procedures, including required student plans and reports. Use technology resources effectively. Assessment / Evaluation Develop and use assessment strategies (traditional and alternative) to support continual student development. Assist in assessing changing curricular needs and improvement plans. Interpret data, including standardized and other test results, for diagnosis, instructional planning, and program evaluation. Establish appropriate testing environment and test security. Provide student progress information electronically for parent access. Evaluate the effectiveness of instructional units and teaching strategies. Intervention / Direct Services Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of subject matter. Communicate high learning expectations for all students. Apply principles of learning and effective teaching in instructional delivery. Use a variety of instructional strategies for diverse backgrounds and learning styles, enhancing critical, creative, and evaluative thinking. Use appropriate materials, technology, and resources to meet all students’ learning needs. Provide instructional modifications for students with special needs, exceptional education needs, or English language proficiency. Recognize indicators of student distress or abuse and act per procedures and law. Provide instruction on safety procedures and proper handling of materials and equipment. Foster student responsibility, appropriate social behavior, integrity, cultural diversity appreciation, and respect for self and others through role modeling and learning activities. Assist students with health and hygiene needs as required. Technology Use technology appropriately in instructional delivery. Use technology to foster an active learning atmosphere. Provide opportunities for students to gather and share information with others using technology. Facilitate student access to electronic resources. Use technology to review student assessment data. Use technology for administrative tasks. Collaboration Communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with other professionals, students, parents, and the community. Provide accurate and timely information to parents and students about academic and behavioral performance. Collaborate with peers and other professionals to enhance student learning. Staff Development Engage in continuous improvement of professional skills and knowledge. Establish and implement an annual Professional Development Plan in accordance with state and district requirements. Participate in school data collection for teacher input on principal performance assessment. Professional Responsibilities Act in a professional and ethical manner, adhering to the Code of Ethics of the Education Profession in Florida and Principles of Professional Conduct. Demonstrate punctuality and regular attendance. Prepare all required reports accurately and timely, maintaining appropriate records. Maintain confidentiality of student and professional information. Comply with policies, procedures, and programs. Exercise appropriate professional judgment. Support school improvement initiatives. Student Growth and Achievement Ensure continuous and appropriate student growth and achievement for age group, subject area, and program classification. Establish and maintain a positive collaborative relationship with families to increase achievement. Physical Requirements Light work: May exert up to 20 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently to move objects. Terms of Employment Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the district's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment are those established by the district.
