Resistered Respiratory Therapist II -NICU

Job Summary The Respiratory Therapist II is responsible for medication administration and implementing respiratory care based on expanded knowledge, experience, and the evaluate‑and‑treat process. The RT II delivers patient care in complex, multiple problem‑patient situations, primarily in critical care areas. Responsibilities include protocol ventilator management, significant independent decision‑making, self‑direction, patient and family education, coordination of activities, staff development, and professional self‑development. The role also involves education of new employees and others. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions Provide customer service and complete patient care, documentation, and education. Work in a team approach to service and promote a positive work environment. Administer quality patient care through patient assessment, verification of orders, aerosolized medication, bronchial hygiene, volume expansion, oxygen & medical gas therapy. Manage ventilators, wean patients, interpret wave‑form graphics, and perform airway management (intubation, extubation, trach tube change and care). Perform arterial blood gas sampling & analysis. Educate patients, mentors, preceptors, and new employees. Assist in invasive and non‑invasive procedures, cardiac service procedures, and pulmonary diagnostic testing. Maintain a safe & quality environment by promoting accurate electronic orders, charting, charging, medication safety, patient safety initiatives, evidence‑based practice, and review of updated DPPs. Perform additional duties as assigned and comply with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards, and code of conduct. Required Minimum Education Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy or Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy (preferred). Required Minimum Licenses & Certifications BLS (Basic Life Support) or ARC‑BLS or BLS‑I (Basic Life Support – Instructor). ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or ARC‑ALS or ACLS‑I (ACLS – Instructor). PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or ARC‑PALS or PALS‑I (PALS – Instructor). NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) or ARC‑NALS or NRP‑I (NRP – Instructor) or NRP‑P (NRP – Provisional, 180 days). NBRC‑RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) or RCP (Respiratory Care Prof). Additional Licenses & Certifications Required Minimum Experience 0‑2 years of clinical experience with at least 6 months in critical care. Required Minimum Skills Excellent communication and customer relation skills. Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
